Ensuring well functioning health financing systems is a critical element of development policy and the delivery of health services.

Cenfri’s experience in this area includes:

  • Cenfri commissioned Econex to analyse the Zambian private healthcare sector in order to determine its potential role in facilitating the implementation of the proposed Social Health Insurance (SHI) system, as well as its role in expanding access and availability of affordable, quality healthcare to the un- and under-insured population in Zambia.
  • Cenfri, on behalf of the FinMark Trust, commissioned Elixir Business Consulting and Fifth Quadrant to identify the main drivers of health insurance costs in South Africa, as well as strategies that can be used to reduce these costs, to support the inclusion of low-income earners

Cenfri is currently managing the FinMark Trust's research on this topic.
