Bhairav is a Research Associate at Cenfri and joined the team in 2011. His research has focused thus far on the impact of global standard setting bodies upon financial inclusion in the context of Brazil, regulatory advocacy and market analysis in Mozambique and insurance development in SADC countries. Prior to joining Cenfri, he has worked at Portland Communications on a number of international communications campaigns in the wider development sector, focused on Africa, Latin America and the Middle East, including a special research assignment on the use of mobile phones in emerging markets for an international German broadcaster.  

His earlier career has been in private wealth management (Latin America region) at Credit Suisse. Other research roles include consultancy at the United Nations Development Programme in Brazil and business development at the BBC.

Bhairav holds an MPhil in Development Studies (University of Cambridge, UK) and BA (1^st class honours) in Spanish and Portuguese (University of Bristol, UK)
